Residential Energy Credit: Updated Consumer Notice

I don't remember who asked me whether residential tenancy would be an offside event for the residential energy credit... Hopefully they read my blog, because today, this notice was once again revised and explains who doesn't qualify and must opt out, including home based business's! 

If you have a home based business, the % of business use means you don't qualify to collect 100% of the credit, but may apply once a year to obtain your personal % of the credit after the fact.  This puts you into the business category at BC Hydro and Fortis, (formerly Terasen) so that they can not give you this credit each month on your statement. 

I haven't figured out yet if they are hitting us with higher user rates as a result, guess I should look at that too.  NO time.  If you do have time to ask, let me know what they say.  This bulletin explains the fines for not opting out.

Now what I wonder is how or if this law will be in contravention of the new rules being introduced federally just this past few days on opting...
